i thought gti/a3 1.8t/4motion bora had 312, and the S3/R32 had bigger again...
GTI's (and maybe the others you've mentioned) have 288mm brakes. TT's and S3's have 312mm brakes but run the same calipers mounted on larger caliper carriers. Here's some info on the upgrade.You shouldn't need any additional parts if you already have the carriers and the rotors
R32's have 334mm brakes with twin piston calipers.

Ray, I've been in contact with a guy wrecking an S3. If you're after the brake bits, I'll ask for a quote. Dunno if he's willing to split just the carriers though, if that's what you need.
Oh, and I found some Porsche 986 front calipers for $400 shipped
