Should be leaving the US on a flight this Sunday

Will keep you posted when I know more!

    Cheers - ian
    Hey Ian,

Whereabouts in the US is it leaving ? If its JFK (New York) or LAX (California), I hope it doesn't get bumped off the Sunday consol flight... unless QANTAS have already resumed their cargo flights which things should be OK.

There was a 130 tonne backlog of cargo awaiting shipment to Sydney via LAX and 80 tonne backlog from JFK from my last report. Nothing was moving fast enough via Air NZ. Even UPS and FedEX were rat****.

Sorry if I've put a downer on this, but hey... AT LEAST WE'RE GETTING IT !!!

      Hi Didz,

It's leaving from LAX, typically via an Air NZ flight (atleast the last three shipments have come via NZ). I'll see if I can find out some more info!

      cheers - ian

ps .. love the inside info!

they've managed to split up my order and half of it arrives late today (maybe) and the rest on Thrusday / Friday.

Sorry to say all, but you'll be getting your bits next week!

                  Some news on the fly..

                  Australia and New Zealand
The market is still completely full and backlogged in all areas of the USA but the difference currently is that both of the major carriers (Air New Zealand and Qantas) are accepting our allocations from the gateways of JFK, ORD, ATL and LAX but we must stay within our allocations as there is no extra space.

Both carriers are taking limited express cargo to each of the lanes as they do not want to take major express moves that will bump existing cargo from the forwarders because they ant to service and move our business. Up until earlier this week the Australian market was backlogged but now AKL (New Zealand) is as well and we are having issues moving large shipments there as well - again, allocations are being honored.

These lanes which normally ease up by Thanksgiving look like according to carriers going to last thru the December Holidays and only ease up in Jan '08

                        Heya,

You do get industry newsletters, but I tend to focus my relationship with my forwarder/s and agents to get a real-time issue of where cargo transport is. As in my area of expertise (Pharmaceuticals) and the strict manufacturing time windows my clients have (imagine no Viagra for you lot!), I need to plan and make allowances/moves to ensure my clients get their stuff on time.

I need to get statements in writing, otherwise we possibly will get caned by legal issues.....

Anything coming in by sea Port-to-Port:
                        - East Coast USA is 35 days sailing;
                        - West Coast USA = 31.

Hope I've helped my budding entrepreneurs
