  • MKIV Value?

    Hi All,

On the market for either a MKIV GTI or A3 8l 1.8T, stock with leather interior, preferably less than 160,000km.

Seeing quite a variance in prices - especially for a golf with leather attracting a premium.

    What would you pay?

Yes, it's true that the A3 doesn't seem to command the same price that the GTI does. Generally under $10000 is good. I'd go for less km though.

I would go for the a3 but I'm biased, not as common and a bit more luxurious

There dirt cheap compared to what I paid should be able to get one for 8k

$8-12k depending on kays would be the ball park.
$12K should get something under 100,000Km
I insure mine for $10K because I know I can replace it for that.

I've seen some under $5000 but with 250,000km you'd want a good inspection and service papers.

          Food for thought....

Just wish there were a few more for sale at the moment (victoria) to compare.

just as i bit of a guide.. I recently sold my MKIV GTI which had the optional leather seats (the larger bolstered ones) and the car had around 150000kms on it for $9k
The car was immaculate inside & out, had been chipped, aftermarket rims, suspension, s3 front brakes, bracing & audio.
Pretty awesome car for the money.

Also, it did take some time to sell.. from what i observed the modded cars were very hard to sell, and probably didnt fetch what it deserved.
Im sure it could have got a lot more if it wasnt modded as much.. a lot of people just see it as a bit off-putting and therefore only appeals to a very small minority.

apart from leather standard, how/why is the A3 more luxurious ? thought they were on par

thanks, it was the oettinger front grille.
Was a great small mod that made it look a tad different to every other mkiv on the road.

For $9K I'd have been all over that if I knew - even though you're interstate and it's not my preferred colour!

                        I'm still looking...

I got offered "four to five thousand" when I was considering upgrading to a 35ed.

damn that looks nice.. i always had plans to colour code my valances, never got around to it.
                              Yours site much lower too..

That price is an insult for the car they are... Much better off getting rid of it privately, even in doing this i feel they are a hell of a car for the money.
                              Great for the buyer though.
