  • Coilover Wrench/C spanner - May I please borrow for a weekend?

    Hi all,
Have KW coilovers (think V2 - adjustable on top of strut) and was wondering if anyone could lend me their C spanner, so that I can adjust my front right strut to be in line with all the others.

For some reason the front right is about 20mm lower then the rest!
Maybe the previous owner carried a "large" passenger - not too sure

I live in Sydney south, near Mortdale and happy to come to you, if your in Sydney.

If you don't have one but know the size, please let me know, as I may end up buying one.

    Thank you very much,
    Steve

I've got some C-spanners you can use, and we could possibly knock it out at my place too if you want. Doesn't take too long, I've spent an hour adjusting my ride height all around about three times over haha. I live out in Merrylands though, but if you don't find anyone closer, gimme an SMS - 0405313804.

Thank you RayRay, I'd really appreciate that.
Do you have any time this weekend and should I remove the inner splash panel before I come out?

Will be sure to send you a text, later today.

      Thanks again!

KW C spanners are usually slightly different to standard ones in that the notches on the collars are rounded instead of having a straight edge. You might be able to do it with a normal C spanner. Having said that if you lubricate the thread before, given that KWs have a grub screw instead of a lockring you can normally wind them up/down by hand even.

This pic shows the difference im talking about. The one underneath being the KW spanner

Steve, PM or call BugRacer, he installed the coil for me and he did many KW installation, he should have a full bucket of KW spanner.

and all passenger in my family are less than 50kg lol

Haha, Eric I was only joking re the large passenger.
As you can see I finally have her on the road. Did you end up buying a mk1 or 2?

It is weird that only my front right is 20mm lower.
Maybe it was "adjusted" by the same guy that scratched my wheels, Anyways something I want to sort so I can get a decent wheel alignment.

Have also wound back the stiffness of the fronts, as it is too harsh for my liking, especially on the M5 at speed.
Will see what it's like when I get to drive it on the weekend.

Take care and I'll probably PM you soon

              Thanks everyone for your help.
I will attempt to lube and wind up (without the c spanner) this weekend.
Surely its easier to wind down rather then up due to the springs but I'll give it a go anyways.

Hopefully I have asuitable alen key for that grub screw.

Today I took the wheels off, removed the gtrub screw and wound up the ride up by hand.
Went up 14mm to even out with the rest of the car. Then it pissed down rain and hail!

Now all I need is a decent wheel alignment, that is if my car is not ridden with hail damage!
