  • MK4 front strut brace

Hey all I found a strut brace that needs holes drilled into the strut tower to be installed. Just wodering if anyone hasd ever done this? and more imprtantly should it be done?

All top strut braces need drilling to fit. No harm in doing so.

I have another question, do these top strut braces do anything worthwhile?

Like has it been proven that they actually stiffen the car?

Audi deemed upper and lower braces a factory fit on the 8L S3, which essentially is the same front end. They wouldn't do it for the good of their health.

Whether the improvement is noticeable, I can't comment.

id never drill into the strut tower. if the front strut brace cant utilize factory locations, its not worthy.

I had a front strut brace on my silvia and it made a massive difference.

I've had a fair few strut braces on other cars but I've never had to drill extra holes in. If other people did it alright I will as I've spent a bit on suspension already so this seems fitting

From my research last night your better off upgrading the strut mounts first..

If you already have coilovers, i wouldnt even bother with the top strut brace..

There meant to do different things though. I'm still not happy with my suspension and don't wanna do anything performance wise until it's right

Whats the problem your having anyway??

Are you rolling too much on corners?

Yeah thats one thing. I wanna upgrade the front sway bar. Doesn't feel very stable either

Have you looked at the wishbone bushes, the rear ones in particular. They fall apart all the time. These cars handle pretty good from the factory and it would take a pretty special driver to make determinations about the handling, IMHO and I have an S3 which is the same underneath.

It would be very sensible to get all the standard suspension back to as new condition, before blowing hard earned on modifications and not getting the full benefit from them.

It doesn't handle badly but theres still room for improvement. Compared to a couple other cars I've had or have
