  • Pod Filter

Hey guys, I wacked a pod filter on my 4mtion bora last week and only yesterday the EPC and Traction control light came on. I took it to volkswagen and was told it was because the car is running lean. Apparently you can have the airflow meter reset somehow or something along those lines but by law volkswagen cant do it. Am i able to do it myself or do i have to have it done at a performance shop? What price am i looking at?

    Cheers
    Nathan

By law VW cant do it? What a crock. Get a VAG com cable off ebay and do it yourself.

Any place with a vagcom will do it for you, your friendly vw service center just probably couldnt be bothered. Are you in melbourne? there are a few places that i could recommend here and if your elsewhere im sure other members will advise you.

if you have an unshielded pod filter in your car thats is not legal. perhaps thats why they refused to work on it? As they dont want to end up on a current affair..... again.

i have a pod filter on my R32 and i have the same problem. The same lights are coming on. Apperently this is because the MAF is faulty.
When i put mine in, i disconnected the battery for 5-10 min and the was going really good for 3-4 months and now its throwing lights at me. People say that the oil from the pod kills the MAF, so it could be a good idea to get a CAI, as the filter is too far to affect the MAF.

Yeah i know its a bit of bulls@#t. Im in the northern beaches insydney. Im sure ill be able to find someone who can help me. I actually bought a cold air induction kit but its a universal one and doesnt really fit. The stock airbox already has a cold air induction pipe to the front of the car but isn't all that big. Has anyone got aftermarket cold air induction on their 2.8L Bora? I really dont know where you could run it! There isnt all that much room on that side of the engine bay. I might even try modding my stock airbox to enclose the pod filter and still bring in the cold air from the stock CAI piping. Any ideas?!

Relocate the battery, or buy a smaller odyssey.

Yeah i might look into that. I spoke to a european performance place this morning and they reckon i shouldnt have any problems with the filter i put on. The computer should automaticaaly adjust but for some reason i dont think it is. It oculd be the oil on the filter but when i started the car the other morning it ran like death so i changed the filter back to the original and it was all good again! Hmmmmmm.
