Think one of mine has packed it in. What sort of $$$$ will I be looking at? Should a local CV place be able to deal with this?

OT, but what were your initial impressions of the Blue controller after it was installed?MY02 Bora V6 4Mo|Matte Black plastidip|VTDA|R32 Exhaust|R32 dampers and springs|TT pedals|R32 steering wheel|17" 8L S3 rims|R32 sways|Blue Haldex|EBC reds

Thanks Dyldo. I'll take it in and see what they reckon. Is there any way to diagnose a CV problem besides obvious noise?
With the blue controller, i find it makes the most difference in the wet. Can kick the tail right out on command coming out of round-abouts.
Can also feel it a bit when you dump the clutch from the lights. Seems to feel a bit more stable to me.

have you had a good root around under the car and eyeballed the cv boots (both inner and outer) on both sides? a tear across the corrugations is very bad and guarantees your cv has been exposed to dust and mud and gunk and has also spilled its lubrication, whereas a tear inside a corrugation is a lot better (in terms of having a tear that is) and people go a long time without anything going wrong. the trick for a cv afaik is the lube - acts like a shield.MY02 Bora V6 4Mo|Matte Black plastidip|VTDA|R32 Exhaust|R32 dampers and springs|TT pedals|R32 steering wheel|17" 8L S3 rims|R32 sways|Blue Haldex|EBC reds

even just the stock "widowmaker" jack mate, just to give it a good eyeball. i bet you could even get lucky with a torch and turning the wheel lock to lock.MY02 Bora V6 4Mo|Matte Black plastidip|VTDA|R32 Exhaust|R32 dampers and springs|TT pedals|R32 steering wheel|17" 8L S3 rims|R32 sways|Blue Haldex|EBC reds

Front CV/shaft at the stealership is around $1200 (that's what the LH front one on mine was quoted to cost when I had my 4MO)
Long story, dropped it to dealer to check what the noise was and report back to me, went to pick up the car and they had replaced it!
Told them to take it back out as the understanding was they would call me with a diagnosis.
After some back and forth I paid for labour only and the new CV joint / shaft stayed in

yeah i got a quote for about 1000 bucks for mine, but you should check out raxles.com I got a quote for about 350 and 150 postage, and they are meant to be tuff as nails! What sort of noise is is making that would make you think it is going? I thought mine was going, but found out it was just axle bind. How low are you?
