  • New metal sump guard

    Hi Folks,
Our '04 VR6 plastic gunk gave me a good scare the other day by coming half adrift at the front and scraping along the road when I hit 120 passing someone - quite a startling scraping noise! Grrrr .... time to go, I've already tried fixing it twice. Then our son turned up in his '05 V5, and his has already disappeared. But with the crap roads round here I do not think we can risk having no underbody protector.
So I have 3 questions: first, has anybody heard of or have experience with the dieselgeek panzerplate (see MK4 Jetta Golf New Beetle GTI R32 skid plate and is it the go? Second, is there a better/cheaper/Australian made one (the postage will be pretty fierce) and third, assuming it is the one to get, is anyone interested in a bulk buy, saving us all some money - and maybe sump damage?
    Cheers for 2012,
    Borat

Manaz ran one I believe. think it was even for sale at one point.
I was interested but the additional 2-3cm clearance lost by running a protector would put my close miles to close to the ground
    Bora gone
    Vento VR6
    MKIV GSW TDI
    7P Touareg TDI

ECS also do a couple that fit with the existing mounting points:

OEM / Performance Parts for Audi, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Mini, Porsche & Volkswagen - ECS Tuning

With postage you'll be paying around $550 I think. Your VW dealer can also order one in which from memory was around the $550 mark when I checked a couple of years ago.
