If you really want the noise then go the pod, but if your purely after the gains at a 10th of the price then just modify your airbox. Moddified airbox will cost you all of $30 where as a proper CAI setup will set you back $400+.

And apparently you have to relocate the battery to make room for the POD.

You could perhaps route the pod further down behind the front bar?

Perhaps, I haven't looked at it in great deal... that's just going off what one of the shops in Melb told me.

Am I missing something, or is there a thread on how to do the Airbox modification ?

Interesting... I wasn't aware of the need to move the battery.
The CDA itself is fairly big (200mm long, 150mm diameter) so I would think it would be hard to mount it further down then where the factory box currently sits?

I'm going to have a look on the weekend about making these mods to the factory box. I found some great 3" Silicone hose that's smooth inside so that should work quite well.

99GTi, would you mind giving some tips on the mod? As I understand it, you just remove the factory "funnel", shave some little bits of plastic out from the bottom of the box and run the silicone down near the front bar? There doesn't look like there's much room for the hose though??

I wish I could make it for the cruise on the weekend, but i have to work... and Bathurst is on too!

Sierra - whats your location? It'd be much easier just to show you? PM me if you like and I can show you. If you get the pipe I'm more than happy to give you hand to do it. If I could find my camera I'd post pics to show you.

Guys, check out this link. It fairly comprehensive and is very similar to the 1.8T motor in it's location.

I am currently running CDA CAI in my 1.6
Sounds great and looks great but dont expect a huge gain in power.Im sure will be different for each application in particular a GTi.
