The rubber seal is missing from my antenna base and bugs the hell out of me. Cam anyone confirm if you do need to take the roof lining off or is there a way around it?
Also I'll probably need a DIY for a bora if that's the case.
if its just hte rubber seal you can slip it over the top
if you want to remove the whole aerial base yes headling has to come off i believe.
i replaced my rubber seal, stuck it in some warm/hot water to soften it then slipped it over. it seemed to warp and move around for the following few days but seems to sit nicely now.
Tim at Dubaddiction sells the seal/gasket im pretty sure.
Oh sweet, for some reason I didn't even think of that lol. Yeah that's where I seen them.
That's Dylan I was probably going to pull my roof apart, such a newbi.
i used a bit of vaseline, it really helps get things into tight spots easily.
can get the gasket from ebay for about $10 i believe, but surely it can be had for cheaper elsewhere. i've seen toyotas and mazdas with the same one as my beetle. e.g. the toyota yaris one is exactly the same

Haha vasso, I got mine for like $5 shipped off eBay. I'm pretty sure they're a common part between a number of makes, just have a search around
Hopefully in this case the roof lining can stay on. I've order the parts from dubaddiction and hopefully it all goes smooth when they show up. Cheers for the advice everyone it seems simple enough....
Don't need to remove the whole headlining, All you do is open the boot remove the rear panel around the 3rd brake light and push the headlining down. it's a 2 person job. 1 to keep the headline down while the other gets a spanner to loosen the nut. Did it when I vinyled my roof
Installed the gasket today, very minimal effort it literally took 2 seconds of sliding it straight over the base and it was done all nice and snug. so much cleaner then not having the seal.
