  • speedo calibration problem ...

After the 1.8T swap into my mk4 (originally a 1.6) I have found that the speedo is reading about 10 kph under the actual speed.
This was checked with a gps of known quality. And a speeding ticket...

So at an indicated 100 kph I am actually doing 112 kph.
Other speeds: first number is indicated, second is actual:

    20 27
    50 58
    60 70
    80 90
    100 112

You can change small errors via vagcom, but can you sort one this big?

I am running standard wheels, so nothing is going on there: 205/55/16. Original cluster, new ECU (the one that came with the engine)

I have searched here , vortex and ukmk4 sites and cant seen to find what I am after.

Speed sensor change perhaps - but which one?

Vagcom thinks the car is going it's indicated speed

Please help, this is a pain

I've been told that you can get your speed o re calibrated so might look into that? Might just be due to a different method in the speed sensors between engines?

I'm thinking so as well, but was hoping for a software solution I could do....
