  • Limp Mode

Was wondering what causes limp mode?

Is it due to overboosting? If so, is that a chip issue? Or perhaps something else.

Reason im asking im trying to find the source of it, so i can work on trying to eliminate it...well as best as i can.

    Thanks,

    Shami

if its a new problem, then I would be looking at what you have done recently and start removing or undoing those mods.

All kinds of 'errors' detected by the ECU can cause a limp mode.

Boost reduction is just one of the parameters the ECU controls to protect the engine from damage.

Constant resetting of the ECU to clear faults isn't really the way to go. George is right in saying back track over things you have changed to try and eliminate the problem.

Yeah just remember a string of faults can be caused by only 1 simple thing. For example a simple air leak can throw about 4 faults. I had a boxster throwing 10+ faults because the crankcase breather had a split in it! Crazy if you had to work through all the codes individually. No need just round them up and there generally is a common denominator.
