    Nice.

While I don't claim to be a massive Porschophile (albeit am part owner of a 1977 Carrera 3.0) that looks more like a replica of a 1973 2.7 RSR than a 1974 3.0 RSR. Still a nice piece.

Other than the front and read bumper bars and exhaust it is a replica of a 74 IROC 3.0 RSR. The engine in my car is a 3.0 litre with similar work done to it, the rear guards (all steel) are wider than a standard RS but not as wide at the RSR and with out the RSR slots, they are the correct width and shape that the IROC RSR cars were. I will be adding the IROC front and rear bars and oil cooler, the IROC Whale Tail for track use as well as the IROC exhaust and intake manifold, throttle plates and velocity stacks but will keep the ducktail for the street.

The 74 IROC cars came from the factory with a Ducktail and were only fitted with the IROC Whale Tail before the first race as seen in the following two pictures, the colour one being 12 of the 15 IROC cars leaving the factory in West Germany the second with them on the transporter from the port of LA.

This is what it will look like for the track when it is finished, same as the Hulme 3.0 IROC RSR

I have a heap more info here from the person who was building the car with links to all the 15 IROC cars, images and VIN numbers etcif you'd like them.

      Cheers Al

Thanks Geoff, I was down in Sydney this morning buying it, hence the posts. Still haven't been to sleep yet and have to get up at 7, 3 hours last night I'm a complete zombie now but still so psyched up about it. Will be a mess until it gets here and I can play.

          Cheers Al

Ah, I didn't know about the IROC version. Learn something new every day.

Once again nice piece of kit. Glad to hear it will hit both street and track like every Porsche should.

Edit: and Thank you both for the kind words, I am terrible at keeping any kind of secret and this was agonising for me not to say anything but I didn't want to jinx the deal until I had paid the money and had the signed bill of sale.

Thanks mate, will let you know when it gets here, if you thought the R was fun for a drive wait till I get my head around driving this one and then take you for a spin.

LOL about the avatar, I was back peddling as fast as I could go when you saw that Avatar test, was trying to figure out what to say so thought the deny everything and play dumb scenario (some say not hard for me) was the best policy and it would work. What is that saying the US government uses......"Plausible Deniability" LOL

Thanks Rusty, not a lot left to do to this one, just a couple of cosmetic mods and me wanting the engine to be finished the same as the 3.0 Litre 74 IROC RSR engine with the intake and Velocity stacks to finish off the tribute car theme properly. I think its been good having this deal to concentrate on right after selling the R as I haven't had time to miss it yet, though I'm sure I will at some point. I know Marti is missing it already as it was the first rally car she co drove in so it had a lot of sentimental value in it for her.

                    Cheers Al

No worries at all matey, I understand where you're coming from there. Would I be on the right track if I suspected Arthur in Sydney would know of the vehicle? Looks like an awesome purchase regardless - will you be doing Targa again in this car?

Over here to view the facilities and help form a regional IT team for my employer. Thoroughly enjoying it, and no, we don't have a call centre over here.

Yes met Arthur & Mark yesterday when I was down there for the day, they did all the servicing for Craig.

Let me know when you get back and I'll give you a call and go over everything in detail. Not sure about Targa in this one, even though it was built for it its really is too nice to put through that, will probably stick to track days, hill climbs and sprint events and still get the Msport Fiesta for gravel and the odd tarmac round.

                            Cheers Al

I understand what you're getting at with wanting to limit the "danger" to the new car. She looks like a beauty!

                              Msport Fiesta sounds interesting...
