Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Bora boot lock

We have just got a Bora and now its home I can not get the boot open.
The bloke we got it from says turn the key left but that does not work.
Here is what I have tried...as per the book.

Lock the car with the remote...unlock and try to open the boot....nope.

Put the key into door and unlock the car....try to open boot....nope.

Put key into boot lock, Turn anti clock(10mins to oclock) and the doors unlock and windows open.

Turn key clock wise(10 past oclock) and the windows shut and doors lock.

Turn key to quarter past and lock boot and take key out.

Each time I have squeezed the handle but the boot will not open.!!

Is there something we are missing?

Is there a way of opening the boot from inside if there is something broken?

Please help as the wife can not go shopping until this problem is fixed

If you know any info but dont know how to explain please send me a pm and I will ring you.

    Thanks Rob

The boot has an electric release on the handle paddle thing.
More than likely the unit in the handle needs to be replaced, it is a more than common issue.

Put the key you have in the boot and turn anti-clockwise and the car will unlock feel resistance and then twist it that bit more. It will pop.
