  • Chip in paintwork; where to take my car? (Canberra or Syd area)

It happened maybe a week or two ago. I was carrying a BBQ gas bottle to the swap 'n go at a servo in Canberra and knocked it against the bora. Next thing I know there's a small chip in the paintwork.

Freaking out, I go on ebay and order some paint--Tornado Red, forget the code (but it was the same code as original).

Then I apply it and it turns out to be a different shade of red !! I don't know if this is because the original paint has faded after 10 years or whatever, but now I have a noticeable "red speck" on the car, and it's **** me off big time!

I'll up a photo later. But is there anywhere in Canberra or Sydney I can take to get it sprayed back to original ? Would they be able to just spray that small area or are we looking at the whole car ?

    thanks for any info guys!

While I cant say where you could take it I can say that repairing a small chip will not require the whole car to be resprayed. The will rub back a fair bit around the chip and then blend the colour to match, wont be cheap but will be a hell of a lot less than respraying everything. Any reputable smash repair place will be able to do the repair in a day or 2.

If you do need a repair shop, "To The Max Bodyworx" on (02) 9604 1934 are worth talking to. Max (who runs the place) is excellent, he does any panel/paint work I need done.

Crud, just realised you're in Canberra. Max may not be of much help to you unless you're going to drive up here...
      Nothing to see here...
