As i mentioned in my pm mate, no interfacing, no run. I mentioned you will need an Eeprom reader, Vagtacho being a basic hit or miss type especially if any of the clusters are Motometer. VDO work lots better and quicker. there is no doubt hooked to the mainframe will spit the codes out a lot easier. I use vagtacho sometimes but must be honest not used as much as it used to, bought a proper Prom reader, but for the one off stuff Vagtacho worth a try. Ill send you a quick Pm

Hey Stan i pmd you, just to add even if the cluster is totally disconnected the car will start if everything is ok. It will start and cut out, so if you dont have a spark mate then there something else along with the interfacing. Might need to pair the pair, current flow diagram wise, ive got them and will try and have a look. Pin out for the AGU one is the one i would follow, and you can add and delete as you need if that makes sense, you need the inputs, outputs, ign lives terminal 30,s and of course the earths. Thats where i would start as it seems there is something totally missing regardless of the immobilser, but feel with the ECU swaps and cluster mixing you will still need to go through with the interfacing--- once you have injection pulse ( check with a noid light) and a nice clean spark. If you get them both then and only then worry about the immob.
              hope that pointer helps

              Cheers

yeah mate it all makes sense as the car should at least fire - which it doesnt.

There is no voltage, well not much, at the fuel pump, but i know the pump and relay are both good. So at the very least the car is not fuelling. thought it might have something to do with the ecu, but dont think so now.

i'm willing to bet i wont find spark either.....havent checked spark yet, but that's next

all a bit strange as the wiring appears good - but obviously cannot be - it's a pain for sure.

grab yourself a noid light and check if you have pulse at injectors, and check if you have a spark. Im gonna sit down in front of the diagram. totally going to discount the 1.6, lets treat it like its a DOA golf 1.8T. thats how i would treat it.
Ill see what i can dig up and at least if i can point you to the terminals and what should be there itll be a start. On holiday now, whats the cost of return to Vic hahaha, ive done stranger, plenty on here will agree LOL
Seriously its got to have the minerals before you take care of the immob. Leave that tiil it bangs

Ok checked diagram, hope you can follow. Main points to check first is that its getting the minerals. In total there is 80 pins on the ECU. There is numbers on the plugs but also correspond with numbers on the ECU.
Pin 1 should be Blue/purple and is IGn live which is fed from fuse 29 which also comes from fuel pump relay.
Pin 2 Should be brown/red. this is earth and terminates in the plenum chamber. Might not be on your car but make sure its earth.
Pin 3 Should be Red/Green this is terminal 30 LIVE
Pin 67 Should be brown/ Blue which is earth from the ECU that gives earth to various senders.
Also check the positive side of the injectors which is normally pin 1 in the plug. this is ign live from fuse 32 wire colour is Red/purple

                    Cheers

                      hey J -

                      pin1 is black/purple
                      2 brown / red
                      3 purple/red
                      67 brown/blue

this is the loom that goes with the agu computer - off the same car

no pulse / light at the injectors, all fuses are ok......

the above seems a lot like a fuel pump relay fault - however mine is fine and so are the appropriate fuses.

so perhaps there is a power issue somewhere....

I wouldn't be surprised if it's just one wire off somewhere. The ECU isn't seeing the injectors. The other shorts need working out too.

I agree Gav, in fact if someone who knew them well could have a poke about I'm sure they'd get it running in no time. Trouble is, that's not me and all the good guys seem to be in NSW or QLD.

There is no power to the fuel pump and no power at the injectors, it must be an easy fix, but I cant find it...
