Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Does anyone know where I could get one of these - or will I have to go through a stealership?

The clearcoat on mine has flaked off after 10 years and the blue color is almost gone. It looks pretty dodgy.

The NB ones are different to normal VW ones as it is curved and sits flush to the bonnet.

I;ve found them through US retailers but shipping cost is bananas!

2 places are ebay and NB Store Shop - JEDER TAG WIRD MIT NEUEN INNOVATIVEN IDEEN UND DESIGNSTÜCKEN REICHER! . if your front one is worn out then the back on can't be far off. buy both at once to save on shipping.

you'll find guides to replacing the badges online, but i'll explain briefly. the front one is a pain to get off. use adhesive remover or wax and grese remover to soften the glue behind it. get some strong fishing line and use it to "saw" the glue underneath the badge. the badge has 2 pins on it so you will have to work from top to middle and bottom to middle i think.
the back on is easy enough to swap, but requires unscrewing your old lock and putting it back together. be careful not to drop the old one and chip the paint :S

note that this is a great opportunity to change badge style!
