Just did the Thermo Fan Resistor Mod (To fix fan low speed) and now I'm having issues with the camshaft sensor...
I don't think that it's related, as I followed the guide, and there is no link to the camshaft sensor.
Now, I'm getting a Camshaft Hall Sensor short to ground error on the ECU, and the engine runs like ****.
00515 - Camshaft Position (Hall) Sensor (G40)
29-00 - Short to Ground
It's missing, and backfiring, and running real rough. Idle is rough, doesn't like to rev above 3000, full throttle has no power, 10% throttle accelerates better than full throttle.
I've disconnected the fans, but no change...
If I disconnect the sensor, the error changes to Open / Short of the Camshaft Hall Sensor...
00515 - Camshaft Position (Hall) Sensor (G40)
30-00 - Open or Short to Plus
The car actually runs a little bit better. Less backfiring, more power, better full throttle power.
There appears to be no short accross any of the pins...
Multimeter Reading of the sensor
1 (neg of multimeter) To 2 (pos of multimeter) = Open Circuit
1 (neg of multimeter) To 3 (pos of multimeter) = 1.4 M Ohms
2 (neg of multimeter) To 3 (pos of multimeter) = 1 M Ohms
1 (pos of multimeter) To 2 (neg of multimeter) = 14 M Ohms
1 (pos of multimeter) To 3 (neg of multimeter) = 11 M Ohms
2 (pos of multimeter) To 3 (neg of multimeter) = Open Circuit
Multimeter Reading of the plug
1 (neg of multimeter) To 2 (pos of multimeter) = 15.8 K Ohms
1 (neg of multimeter) To 3 (pos of multimeter) = 700 Ohms
2 (neg of multimeter) To 3 (pos of multimeter) = 2.6 K Ohms
1 (pos of multimeter) To 2 (neg of multimeter) = Unreadable (Fluctuates between a reading, and open circuit)
1 (pos of multimeter) To 3 (neg of multimeter) = 700 Ohms
2 (pos of multimeter) To 3 (neg of multimeter) = 5 K Ohms
Has anyone had similar issues with the camshaft sensor?
Are there any other tests that I can perform?
Is there anyone in the Canberra region that has a spare sensor?? (06A 905 161 A)
