MK4 Golf 1.6 Automatic 4000rpm @ 100km/h

My sister's 1.6 Automatic Golf revs really high on the freeway. We were thinking it was her transmission not shifting into 4th. This is the fault:

Component and/or Version: AG4 Getriebe 01M 4985
Software Coding: 00000
Work Shop Code: WSC 00000
1 Fault Found:
00545 - Engine-Transmission Electrical Connection
31-00 - Open or Short to Ground

Can anyone help interpret?

Could this have something to do with it revving high or it's something irrelevant? Also she's gonna take it to VW and pay $126 for a diagnosis.. Could I use VCDS-lite to help her save $$$ ??

Check your fuses mate, they are on the right hand side of the dash, if you scan the engine it too will have faults. Dont fall into the trap of just checking the auto for faults. The engine faults will steer you to the correct fuse, normally for the lambda probe, just cant remember at this time of night but seen it before, fuse 32 or 43 springs to mind

All fuses were checked and only one was blown. This did fix another problem though lol and now her check oil light that was constantly on turned off, and her gear selector display now works.

Basically the mechanic had a look and saw the same fault codes but cleared them, and this fixed the problem. The car now shifts gears. It was supposedly in limp mode and the faults that caused it were electronic. We're not sure when these faults occurred so for now she'll drive around and hopefully it doesn't happen again. If it does then we'll take it back.

Think you will find it was the fuse i was on about, you have replaced it and cleared the faults, im sure thats it, clearing codes doesnt fix faults but you physically changed a faulty fuse which number you havent mentioned, i know for sure there is one that goes and gives this fault, and yes it all had to be reset.
