  • V5 Golf

I have just about finished my Golf I only have to get it sprayed now and get the stereo installed sorry I haven't put the photo's up yet they should go on in the next couple of days.It started out as a bog stock pov pack 1.6 4speed auto the first change was to get a set of coilovers and a full recaro interior fitted, next a set of staggered set of 16x8" and 9" BBS RS rims and a Nuespeed rear bar.The 1.6 was a slug so it was suggested that if I could find a good V5 bora I could do an engine swap with the advantage of not needing to have everything engineered, it took about two weeks to find a good donor car that had copped a rear end hit. The bora had low Ks ánd had a V5 with a 5 speed triptronic it had to be an auto as my girlfriend can't drive a manual, cruise control, climate control, bigger brakes and full leather interior heated seats etc etc.I then had every thing transplanted from the bora into my golf. The car is now great to drive and has all the options that I wanted and doesn't attract attention.Once I get the stereo fitted which is a double Din Eclipse AVN4400 head unit that has intergrated reversing camera, dvd and a detatchable Tom Tom gps screen it should retain the factory look this unit will be conected to a Sinfoni 90.2 amp and Helix Esprit front splits, the car will be fully sound deadened with Dynamat. I would like to thank Matt and the boys at Camden GTI for their workmanship and skill at completing my car.

Does that look like it is meant to be in there??

This Interior is Sex in Any Car.

As factory as any conversion can be.

Features Bora Brakes, Tiptronic Auto, Climate and Cruise Control, Leather, Bora Steering Wheel and obviouly the subframes, wiring, shifter, exhaust and lots more.

Wiring was epic for plug and play, the Mk4 is the last VW that is is relatively straightforward to do such a conversion on.

Came out real nice and stock looking, donor car was a peach which helped and the compliance plates have the same approval number, so no engineering required.

So Australias first V5 Golf. Get out there Pete and Enjoy it.

Big ups to Gary and the rest of the Team at Camden GTI who made this build possible.

That is a great achievement, but wouldnt it be easier and cheaper to just buy a V5 bora?

Nice to see something different in the mk4 section.
What sort of cost/timeline would one be looking at to get this sort of conversion done by you Matt?

I saw a 3 door mk4 golf with a V5 earlier this year. It was factory though.

Were you able to do the rear brake conversion too?

Good work Matt and nice car mate. I've often thought that this would be a cool conversion. Do the V5s have bigger brakes, are the 4-Mo brakes the same?
