So the actual bumper is fine (the white part) it's just the black lip at the bottom I need?

New Bora 4motion owner - what to look out for?

My guess, from the damage to the front number plate, is that at some point the car has had a minor front end collision and when it was fixed they either ordered the wrong bumper+lip or sourced a second had one off a 2 litre.
Now that I know it's not right I really want to get the correct one.

4mo lips look more agressive or something also
yours may have just been damaged from scrapping/caught on gutters etc, I know mine use to before i lowered it.
2lt ones give you more lows with less scraping though

The 2001 model came with a single coilpack bolted to the head, the 2002 onwards came with individual coilpacks.
All 4motion Bora's came with the same lower front lip.Euro Revolution - eurorevolution@live.com.au

The only place I have found so far where I can get a 4motion front lip/valance is ECS tuning in the US and it will cost me almost $350 by the time I get it landed in Australia.
Should I try a VW dealer? I am used to being royally ripped off when buying spares from a dealer, I once asked for a price on a cargo blind for my Jeep, the guy quoted me $940 for a part I could buy from a dealer in the US for $45.
Is there anywhere else I can get one?

Mate conrats on the purchase. I bought mine about 6 months ago (4 motion/2004) after looking for about 6 months!
I love it! For the money you are hard pressed to but anything better than the bora!
Re the number plate, check the rat website. I was able to get the black/white euro plate with:
BOR04A
I'm sure that you could do something similar

I tried my local dealer and can get it from them for $210 or from Volkspower in Melbourne for around $150 delivered.
So it was definitely worth following your advice.Last edited by djorkboy; 19-07-2011, 08:15 PM.

An update on my questions re E10, 95 or 98 petrol.
I have owned the car for almost 4 weeks now and have put fuel in it 3 times which is awesome, my previous daily drive was a Commodore ute with a ridiculously tiny tank that I needed to put fuel in at least 3 times every two weeks.
I tried one tank of 98, then one tank of 95 then went back to 98. You can see the results on Fuelly here >>> Bora V6 4motion (VW Bora) | Fuelly
Each time I fuel up I reset the trip computer. The car reports that it is doing 10.7 when really it is doing about 11.3 I'm guessing this innacuracy is one reason why Boras don't have the distance to empty feature enabled by default.
All up, pretty happy with the mileage on 98 fuel, and I don't know if I was just imagining it but it felt smoother when running on 98. I will be sticking with 98 all the time now.
I think the reason I got better mileage on the 2nd tank of 98 fuel was that I pumped up the tyres, the rears had been ok but one of the front tyres was 28psi and the other was 30.
