the R's are heaver specially on the mk 4 and 5 mainly because of the 4wd, then on top of that is that golf is one of the safest cars on the road and airbag systems rnt light. Also the fact that the v6 isnt to light either but still not bad for a 6.
Well luckily the did give the Mk4 180hp its later life, but you're forgetting it has a shedload more torque than the Mk1/2 and a chip sorts it out anyway.
I'd kill for 1200 Kg, the MKIV R is the Cartman of the group at a piggy sized 1546 Kg. I need to weigh mine after taking out the seats speakers stereo etc etc etc
Cheers Al
Where did you get that stat, Al? The official spec is 1477kg. If you converted the US lbs figure to KGs, remember that the US spec cars are heavier due to extra crash protection.
Have not as yet been able to ascertain whether this extra crash protection was also applied to the psuedo-US spec Aus R32s.
