Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Exhaust for v5 into MkIV Golf

I have just got complete v5Bora with tiptronic to go into my MkIV golf the current engine is a 1.6. I would like to know of peoples recommendations for exhaust systems to suit this swap? I am after a decent note with out a drone.I would like to go stealth if possible but I am able to change the rear bar if needed as after the engine swap it is going in for a complete respray. Also any recommendations for engine management unit upgrades. I have already upgraded the brakes and it now has 17"BBS rims and coilovers and a nuespeed rear bar.
    Thanks Pete

I'd have gone with the VW system as a first choice and modify it to suit. Failing that knowing VWs like I do, a system from a GTI would be the next choice. I have one in my shed but you could pick one up in Sydney easily.

I definitely think you should be getting the motor in and running before spending any money on the ECU.

Custom-Code can do you a tune but the gains won't be that big to be honest.
