Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • MKIV R32 - Tints

    Guys,

My MKIV has lightly tinted windows with a green tinge to them.

Does anyone know if this is a film covering or actual coloured or treated glass?

I checked the edge of the window when down and to me it does seem to have a film but I have read some other forums and it seems to an ambiguous topic (not too sure if it is country designated).

I was considering darker tints using film but I don't want them to remove the existing tints ($$$) for a smaller marginal benefit.

    Thanks,

    Kurt

I think the stock windows on the Mk4 are untinted - if you have a greenish tinge then I'd hazard a guess that they have been tinted at some stage - usually a film placed over the glass ... Do you have any pics you could post up of your car to clarify? My windows were dealer tinted - I received a separate warranty on the tinting and the paperwork was placed with my service books etc.

The factory tint is built into the glass at manufacture.

The normal factory tint is a green colour but the R32's have a blue tint.

look very carefully for any bubbles with tiny bits of dirt or dust somewhere under the film. that will show you if it's film or not. look especially in tight corners like the corners of the back windows.

u could remove the tint film yourself using a plastic paint scraper. if it's already darkest legal then it's probably not worth changing.

my car has 10% tint and the guy who did it never mentioned any other tint being on the car before. i dont think its a problem for them to tint the windows even if there is tint there already
