Hi guys.Dilemma.Do I keep my stock mk4 gti 90k and chip, new clutch (prob down the track as still on original) suspension upgrade or bite the bullet and sell for the mk5. I do like the wolf in sheeps clothing look of the 4 but not real keen on having to replace turbo on 4 down the track as mileage increases.Any thoughts. Also worse case how much to fit a new ko3 or ko3s ifthe worse was to happen.Happy the block on the AGU is fairly up to the task

I guess it depends how attached you are to it, what your goals are with it and what needs doing - has the timing belt/water pump been done? That's close to a grand if it hasn't, then with the list of mods you've got going you'll be spending a bit anyway: chip, intake, intercooler, suspension, clutch so you could conceivably sell it off and upgrade. It's only going to depreciate further over time, but then again cars are not an investment are they? A median price for a good late model GTI with kms in the 90s on CarSales is about $14,000 - not sure if they actually sell at that price though - the cheapest MkV GTI on there is $19,900.
Best wishes with whatever you decide.

A ko3s is $600 a ko4 is $700 so with the price of a new ko4 I wouldnt be too worried about a turbo change...Euro Revolution - eurorevolution@live.com.au

Those prices aren't for OEM turbos (KKK). You can buy my spare K03 if yours packs it inBut if I were you I'd get out early and buy a Mk5.

yeah audi think i,ll hold on to the old girl for now.resist the urge to mod as with add ons i,m up to the 5 price anyway.I do like the shape of the 4 more though but 02 model aint getting any younger.only real issue I have with the 4 is that lag you get at take off and the obvious loss of turbo poke over around 4k.Other than that and the usual unexplainable odd electrical gremlin i,m happy with the car and find it seems to have very long legs for a 1.8 especially in second gear (100km) easily and I can still get some poke out of her if I keep my foot down.Hey I live in Sydney anyway so speed aint so important.Soooooooooo tempting thoughMK4 GTI Revo Stage 1 / BFI Dogbone Mounts / 710N DV
