hi guys looking at some rims and just wondering was thinking of going to 18s
could anyone tell me the stud pattern and the offset i should use?
also what tyres your running if your running 18s?
5x100 is the PCD for all Mk4s, with a 57.1mm centre bore.
Offset depends at least partially on the width of the wheels - somewhere between +35 and +38 is normal in the 6.5" to 7.5" width range.
225/40R18 will maintain your aspect ratio (stock fitting on the R32 18" Aristos), but will make the car ride quite hard. I personally find 17" wheels to be a good compromise, I'm currently running 235/45R17 tyres (225/45R17 is stock on 17" wheels on the Mk4, but 235/45R17 tyres are considerably cheaper).
225/45R17s are quite expensive as they're a relatively uncommon fitment in the market here. 235/45R17 tyres are more common (common fitment on Falcon XR6 / Commodore SV6 for instance), and are a damned sight cheaper than their 225 width equivelent, and I've found that they've actually made my speedo more accurate (as compared to GPS) due to the very slightly higher rolling diameter.
On 7" wide wheels I'd be cautious of going any bigger than 215 or 225, but on 7.5" wheels, 235 width is perfectly fine.

i just think they look a little big on a 17x7.5...
Maybe its just the ones iv seen, as for bringing the speedo closer to where it should be, they will also give the wheel more protection from gutter rash i guess, and more grip. Didnt realise they were so much cheaper!

Can anyone post pics of 235/45R17 as opposed to 225/45R17 - I'm currently running the latter and would be interested to see the difference.
Manaz - were the pics you posted of your Bora sitting on your drive a while back 235's then?
