Golf Cabriolet 2001 - Diagnostic Port Location

I have just bought a 2001 Cabriolet 2.0 (engine AGG) and want to scan the ECU to see if there are any fault codes. I can't see where the Diagnostic port is, does any one know? Is it behiond a panel on th dash?

Yes it is and the port was behind the panel above the cigarette lights. Thanks very much

wow stealth. on the beetle it's under the dash on the driver's side. no fancy panel
