  • 2001 Beetle misfiring???

my wife just bought herself a turbo 2001 beetle, it has a bad miss about 4500-5000rpm. is this a common problem? is there an aftermarket/more reliable fix? also does anyone know of someone wrecking a beetle as we need a few random parts. thanks

also is there suposed to be an exit vent behind the intercooler to let the air out?

Engine trouble is best fixed by a VW specialist - there are many things that could cause this.

Now the air flow for the IC. VW did not put in a vented wheel arch liner. Audi did. Many people, including myself, have done their own vent mod, some have cut the vent out of a TT liner and then riveted that into the Golf liner.

the miss is being caused by the faulty coil packs, i understand that there was a recall in america for this reason, did it happen in australia. in the paperwork that came with the car there is a service sheet and in the extra info section it has reommended replacement of the coil packs $465, that was back in 05.

Ok coil packs fixed one problem. Now it surges from 4000rpm up. Is this normal? I'm hoping its the exhaust.

There is no error codes and for an $88 diagnostic I can buy a set of spark plugs that will probably fix it. It has the same problem without the exhaust so spark plugs is the next major thing.

Stupid drive by wire is driving me crazy. Does anyone make a throttle control module that fixes the throttle lag?

Update - installed a temporary boost guage, boost spikes to .7 bar for a second then drops to .5 and site there til redline. Removing diverter valve has stabilized the boost a little as it was leaking but has still got the stutter.

is that the little boost sensor looking thingy cause there isnt any vacuum coming out of that to the diverter valve.
