  • 2000 Golf GTi stalling problem

    HI guys

Recently bought myself a 2000 Golf GTi and am new to the VW scene (owned the car for 2 days). I really like the Golf however I have this stalling problem.

It happens when I'm stopped at a light or parked. The car idles fine but all of a sudden just stalls. I can turn the key again and it will start and will drive perfectly fine bar the occasional feeling when I'm accelerating and it feels like I'm about to stall.

I thought it only happens when the car is warm (this happened after driving for over 15mins) but this morning I started the car and it started but about 10 seconds later it stalled again.

Anyone have any ideas or know any VW specialists in the North or West of Melbourne?

    Thanks in advance!

Mine did exactly that, then quickly got worse and worse. Turned out the MAF had died. You can check if you've got the same problem by disconnecting the plug to the MAF and driving the car. The symptoms will disappear.

From memory they are only about $250.

          Problem fixed!

It was the air flow meter

Took it to the guys at Volkwerke, plugged in the comp and bingo

          Car runs fine now!
