  • Mk4 .:R32 Clutches

    Hi all,

Mine has decided to start slipping so I'm up for a new clutch, have read info elsewhere but curious to see how the aussie guys went about replacing theirs.

Have got a quote from the local stealer for supply of clutch plate, flywheel, breather and bolts, you don't want to know the $$$.

Am scouring aftermarket/online stores, but as I said, keen to here from guys here to see what they went with??

    TIA
    Mal

I believe DXD supply heavier duty clutch/flywheel.
    APR uses them apparently.

    Check out their website:
South Bend Clutch - DXD High Performance Clutches
Then go to catalog and select VW on the left.

thanks mate, haven't caught your name around before?

Yesh, had shortlisted Spec Stage 2+ inc LW aluminium flywheel or the ECS Stage 3 with LWFW. Both between 1200 and 1300USD + shipping.

Is apparently a Sachs one in it at the moment Corey.
Gave Paul a call last night with no answer.
Have the Mike Webber sticker still on the car, will give him a call on Monday and see what I can find out.

At present the Spec items look like the winner though...

                  Thanks champion!

It depends on how you drive your car and what mods you have and if you plan to add some performance upgrades at a later time. Depending on what you want to spend you could get the factory FW resurfaced and just get a clutch, pressureplate, TO bearing and slave cylinder. I think it easier to add fluid to the new slave cylinder/TO assembly before you install it--makes bleeding the clutch easier. I'm running a Spec Stage 3+ with singlemass flywheel I didn't go to light as I didnt want to loose TQ. But I do get a little bit of chatter with the singlemass FW with the clutch pedal out. A mate hooked me up for cheap thats why I got it and its been good so far.. Clutch master, south bend and Streetwerke all make nice clutchs. I think when I get back home and the clutch is done I'm going to switch to a DM clutch as I want to make around the 600-650Awhp.

Jay - with the single-mass flywheel, is the clutch pressure-plate you have centre-sprung?

I've been considering SPEC for my next clutch setup as well, just a mild upgrade though as I never plan on going to seriously high power levels...
                      Nothing to see here...

Debated over the weekend and decided to go with the SPEC "Stage 2+" and as a necessity the SPEC flywheel must come with it.
