  • Clutch disingagment issues.

Im looking for some more input.
Last night I started the car, dropped it into reverse and went to place into first but i couldn't disengage the clutch.
I turned the car off, pulled it out of gear. Started the car and then i could do nothing.

I've pulled out both the slave and master clutch cylinders and everything is perfectly fine, there is more than enough fluid in the brake/clutch reservoir.

This has led me to believe that this issue is within the clutch, possibly the spring?
Can i please have opinions as I currently plan on removing the clutch tomorrow.

    Thank you.

What engine do you have? GTI, 2 litre, 1600?

could be the same thing a few of us were discussing last week.
There is a mount on the back of my pedal that broke. Have you noticed any bits of metal or plastic in your drivers foot well??
I cant post the thread up as im on my phone, but its in the mk4 section.

            Pedal feels exactly the same.
To remove the master cylinder the whole pedal has to be removed, and there isn't nothing strange going on at all.

I thought the slave was in the gearbox on Mk4s - or is that just on the 02Ms (6-speed)?
              Nothing to see here...

The slave on the box i have sits on the outside, between the battery and starter motor.

Must be different between the 02J and 02M gearboxes - a good thing for you!
