  • Mk 4 Manual - A question on the clutch

    Hi all,

I'm helping my son buy a Mk4 golf manual 2 litre and have a couple of questions on the clutch.

How much travel should there be before the clutch takes up? I am used to a clutch taking up about half way in the travel but the one I tested today takes up almost all the way out. Changing gears is good but you only have to rest the foot on the clutch for it to operate....

Is this a sign that the clutch is on the way out or is it just a case of it needing adjustment?

    Thanks in advance for advice.

no adjustment on those, if the pedal is high the clutch is towards the end of its life

My MK4 Golf's clutching point is always been very up high, since the car was new, until now... 165000km already, works the sam. I guess my car is almost time to put a new clutch in... feeling a bit lose when hill start...
