Not sure, but just so you know mine is fine on full lock do it most days. Could be your cv's failing or not enough grease and therefore locking up i guess.sigpic

mine does it as well ever since I upgraded the haldex (blue), went back to stock no problem, thought it was a faulty haldex sent it back the place i bought it from and they couldnt fault it and so they swapped it for an orange one that had been rebuilt and it still did it (although not as much)
no expert here but it seems to be caused by the haldex forcing power to the rear wheels and them bracking traction and the traction control trying to stop it. If you turn the traction control off its better and you can get the rear wheels to actually spin at full lock with a foot full of accelerator
I couldnt find any solution to it replaced the haldex oil etc
are you running the standard haldex?
i guess you either live with it or see if there is a standard haldex for sale on the sale forums and swap it over
I hate to think what its doing to the diffs etc but I've learnt to live with it and use full lock only very slowly and if you keep the car out of gear and clutch out doesnt do it (ie if you are in a very tight car park going round and round)

Both blue and competition controllers send power to the rear more often. This can trigger the ESP on tight slow corners because when going around a tight corner, the outside wheels travel significantly further than the inside ones (and rears less distance than fronts because the rear wheels of the car actually follow a different arc than the fronts) - this triggers the ESP (it detects the difference as slip), and can cause the car to "crab" a little as the inside wheels try to turn as far as the outside ones are, and slip on the ground a bit (making the ESP issue worse). Turning ESP off when making tight turns at low speeds (in car parks, doing U-turns, etc) helps, as it takes the ESP out of the equation.Nothing to see here...

Turning ESP off doesn't seem to make any difference. I do notice it's worse when doing a U turn really slowing as against say walking pace. Feels like something will eventualy break as the tyres grab and slip sideways.
Has there ever been any info from VW about this problem?

Could also be that the haldex diff has failed. I'd take to Loyd up at Volkwerke he knows all about haldex's.79 MK1 Golf Wreck to Race / 79 MK1 Golf The Red Thread / 76 MK1 Golf Kamei Race Car

I cant see how it could be related to the Haldex, as the "rest" position for the clutch pack is open, therefore no drive to the rear..I know because me Haldex controller has dropped out once before.

Good news is we have found the clutch pack was stuffed, theory is non genuine/wrong spec haldex oil used.
Bad news is the cost of repair (yeouch!). However, replacing haldex and rear drive unit with a 2nd hand unit with min km's for same price as new clutch pack.2002 Bora 4mo sport
