They're possible reasons, yes. As the mounts fail, the gearbox sits in a slightly different position in relation to the gear selection mechanism which is mounted on the chassis. There's a small amount of adjustment possible with the gearbox selector mechanism where it connects to the shift selector on the gearbox, it may be possible to account for the gearbox droop, but ideally, if the mounts are gone, it'd be worth getting them fixed.
* Gearbox mount on the left of the engine/gearbox combination.
* Engine mount on the right of the engine/gearbox combination.
* Dogbone mount underneath the engine/gearbox combination which connects the engine/gearbox combination (underneath it) to the chassis behind it.
Try doing the cable adjustment for your shifter that may help, could also be a bent selector fork inside the gearbox, hopefully its not though, or the mounts.. If it is the mounts, i recommend replacing all three at the same time.
