  • VAG-com VCDS tweak list

    hey dubbers!

I see the mk6 guys have a tweak list that they will likely end up stickying that covers all the cool stuff and tweaks they can do to their Mk6 rides.

Do we have a similar list for mk4?

Here's a couple of starters - just what can be done, no instructions

                - auto open / close windows via remote & central locking
                - auto lock doors at approx 30kmh
                - single press to unlock driver's door only, double press for other doors
                - distance to empty (half height display clusters, not sure about full height clusters)

There's a thread elsewhere in the Mk4 section about how to do some of these already
Some things require manual programming too, not just on/off options via VCDS

                  vagcom can't do this one.

Re distance to empty, yep but that was why I added the comment about manual programming

If you have central locking, I don't see why not. May need to be remote though?

                            Hi All,

Just thought i'd chime in here and mention i received my HEX+CAN+USB cable from Ross-Tech today! I'm gonna tinker with my mk5 GTI tomorrow. Any tips would be useful!

Once i get the hang of it i'm happy to help out anyone else wanting to mess with their car! ...for a small beer fee of course! I need to recover some of the dosh i spent on this thing!

                            Cheers

i'll throw in a couple of easy ones.

Set cluster country code to Saudi Arabia and you get a Speed Warning alert at ~125kmh

The Saudi setting will also activate the "key in ignition - door open" warning gong.

Does not affect any other settings - same metric display and 24hr clock etc

Recode Climatronic module to US market - makes it quite a bit colder for a given temp setting in summer. Seems to keep the cold air circulating better in the hot sun.

I put it back to standard setting for winter, because US setting does not seem to have very much face level heat.

You need to do a Basic Settings as well after you recode, to reset the flap motors.
PM if you are looking for: R32 rear sway bar; R32 suspension springs; Euro Headlight switches
