  • What type of coil pack for 01 Bora 4-Mo

    Hi
I am wondering if my 01 4MO has individual or integrated coil packs. If so, what are the part numbers if ordering from ECS. Car going well but may get some coil packs just in case

I suspect the 2001 model may have the old coil pack design like the Mk3 VR6 (coil packs on the side of the engine, with leads running to the spark plugs). A photo of the engine with the top cover removed will confirm...
    Nothing to see here...

Where ever they are, I managed to get them wet on the weekend. Went a bit too fast through a big puddle and the car started misfiring. Luckily the engine fixed itself when it had some time to dry out

Silly question. How on earth do I get the engine cover off!. I looked for clips but cabt see any. The plastic V6 insert seem to be a push fit but I cant figure it out how it lifts off. DoH!

Just pull it up at each corner, it is held on with rubber bushes over metal pins.

You've got individual coils per cylinder. Somebody correct me if i'm wrong but any coils from here should suit:
              Volkswagen Jetta IV VR6 24v > Engine > Ignition

Out of interest, anybody know why the 3rd party coils are more expensive than the genuine vw ones?

the Buemi coils discussion has been had! From ECS direct, its a supply chain thing. They are identical and there is no other logical reason for the pricing. There is absolutely no reason to go past the oem/vag, I personally have bought them and I know a few others have too!

Thanks for the coil pack info. So is buying from ECS cheaper than original VW coil packs?

ECSTuning sell the same thing. You can land a set of six coilpacks from ECSTuning for around AUD$120, or you can pay VW Australia AUD$120 per pair - for exactly the same thing. It's your call.

goodfella and I deal with ECS quite a bit - let me know if we can help.

AUD$120 for six compared to the same for a pair locally...no contest reallly! . Would you know which type from ECS is most suitable for a 2001 Bora 4-MO? I notived there are OEM/vag ones for $119 or another type for neraly $200

They should be these ones i figure.

I'm placing quite a large order and could possibly save you on shipping if you wanted to add it in. I decided whilst im changing maf, sparks, air filter, oxygen sensor i may as well go the full hog and do coil packs to help my car heh.

Convenience of savings would depend on your location, I suppose. I am in Melb Eastern suburbs

True. I'm in perth but I looked it was about $40 for shipping from ecs alone or like $2 to add it to my existing order but I can get the proper quote tonight. It would be like $12 or so shipping to melbourn I imagine. It was just an offer if you were interested

Shipping for an extra set from america is roughly $7 american. Then add the other shipping.
