  • Brake caliper carriers for larger rotors

    G'day guys,

recently made a purchase off ecstuning having include larger front rotors - 312mm, all isn't fine as i forgot to order the audi TT carriers

what i'd like to know is, does it directly accommodate to the stock vw golf calipers without any other mods or issues that it won't work? and is there any place i can go through locally rather than purchasing overseas through ECS? better yet, anyone got a set for sale??

    cheers guys

Buy from . . . Audi dealer or VW dealer (Bora V64M have the same brakes?)

As long as you're going from 288mm GTI brakes, you'll only need the rotors and caliper carriers. If you have 280mm brakes, you'll need new calipers.

I hate to think how much you would pay from VW or Audi

Just make another order with ECS
          MODS- TOO MANY

As much as they're probably rather expensive here, you have to factor in shipping from the US (they're a solid item, not light, nor particularly compact for their weight). You have better gains when buying a number of items, as the shipping costs are spread over them all. If someone else is placing an order soon, that may be worth pursuing?

That said, I still think you'll find sourcing from ECS Tuning on their own will be cheaper than locally from VW/Audi

thanks for the reply guys, i'll definately be steering away from buying genuine from audi. i hope i can come across a wreck of some sort if not i'll be going through ECS again. That just means buying more goodies that it doesnt need loll

you can just go custom carriers and go for a porsche 986 4 pot caliper instead over the 312mm discs like i did on my old mk4

I'd say a wreckers, have a look under the "recommended parts and suppliers" part of the forum, there is a sticky with all the vic based wreckers listed.

The closest to you that MIGHT have them is Golf City in Clayton, Con is a nice guy to deal with, knows his stuff and has the most imaculate wreckers I have ever seen, but his prices are higher than everywhere else......

                    PM'd.

Since you guys seem to know part numbers, any idea on the Caliper rebuild kit part # for the Audi TT mk1 fwd brakes?

I'd rather not talk to Audi direct, they have not been much help here.
