  • '03 Bora 4mo Speedo/odo stopped

Tonight my speedo and odometer stopped working. The tacho still works fine. Using my Google Ninja skills, I found a few similar problems and when i turn the key to 'ON', the tacho needle moves into position, but the speedo needle does not - possibly ruling out a cluster replacement.

Just before it stopped, I WAS oogling the spark plugs with the plastic engine cover off. Perhaps I knocked something.

    Any suggestions?

I suggest the vehicle speed sensor. It's what controls that. Try your cruise control and see if that works. Mines buggered my cruise control but my speedo still works but suggested getting that replaced.

I second this, had mine let go last year.. except it was more a case of random dropouts. Also found it cut off the cruise control, that was most concerning considering I was rounding a bend up a slight hill on the Pacific Highway, not a fun place for the cruise to cut out and kill the revs.

The sensor is screwed into the gearbox. Reasonably simple to change.

Consider the up side of no odo. You can drive a round for a few more years before fixing it and sell it as "low km"
