  • new used car day one issues

    Hi Guys,
Just picked up a 2000 model MK4. Has the following issues and hoping to get some advice on best way forward. I still have the MK3 - well over 420k now and still going strong -

    1) Heater / A-c dial light not illuminating - just checked the thread on this topic and will get onto it tomorrow.

    2) Wheel bearings seems to be making noise - rumbling noise on a smooth road - tyres are low profile. Are wheel bearings likely to be worn given the 220k on the mileage ? Is this a likely cause ?

    3) Auto transmission is whining under load - even low load. Coasting is fine but put the accelerator down and the noise comes alive - Is this a normal thing or am i looking at dollars here.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    could be blown globe

could be tyre noise. try and isolate noise by loading up a particular corner. not usual to have all four bearings go. **** tyres are a dead giveaway

could be the transaxle. not much you can do there. it either needs to be fixed or replaced. only thing you can do is check fluid level and quality.
