  • wheel offset for mk4?

hi all im in the middle of ordering some custom wheels for the mk4, i wont give it away but there japanese wheels. Anyway the old wheels dont have the offset stamped on the back, probably cause they were made in taiwan . So i want 18s again i was quite happy with the fittment of the old wheels they just fit and the car looked good once lowered on the coilovers. So i dont want any crazy poke or anything, the cops almost done me for it last time. Im thinking 9.5 rear with et35 x18 no idea on fronts but ill probably rum 18.x8.5 but no idea on offsets anyone have suggestions? btw i refuse to use spacers or adaptors, im getting the wheels custom made so there is no need really. cheers

I believe theat OEM was +35,

However, if you want to go for a 9.5 inch rim, you might have clearance issues.

Have a play here Wheel Offset Calculator

Mate I would say that with 8.5 and et35 at the front you may be getting very, very close to having contact on the adjustment collars on your coilovers, depending on which coilovers you have, and close to flush with the guards on the outside.

        On the rears with 9.5 and et35 I think you'll poke by about 6mm - 8mm.

        Cheers,

        Snowy

If you're worried about legal issues, you should read up on the laws regarding width.

9.5 will be over the line.

As for fitment, google an offset calculator - punch in some numbers and grab a tape measure to double check if you'll clear.

8.5 et 35 has been done.
9.5 et 35 will come down a bit to how low you are. given a fair drop. id say close to flush/a tiny bit of poke on the outside, inside will be getting close to the shock but dont think it'll touch...
