  • double checking on seatbelt/airbag light mod

Hey all, I'm changing the colour of the interior in my golf 4, I got new seatbelts from a rear ended mk4 but the new belts don't have the plug for the pyro charge/airbag connection. If i leave them unplugged the airbag light will stay on of course, so I want that light to go off.
I read you put in a 4.7 ohm resistor to trick the computer, question is, do you just poke one end of the resistor into one plug hole and the other end in the other hole (yellow 2 pin plug)
There's no special way to do it is there??
I'm guessing not, but want to make sure.

    Thanks

    Airbag Resistor Guide

You should shorten and then flatten the ends of the resistor tails a bit and then once installed cover the whole plug with some heat shrink to keep them secure. Try and get the resistor as close to the plug as possible rather than having really long tails on them.

I rewrote this guide above after sourcing the info from Vortex from various threads and have used this method in my car for a number of years now with no issues. I did it because I have disconnected all my airbags and completely removed them for rallying but it should work the same for the seat belt pyro charge/airbag connection.

    Cheers Al

Hey thanks for that, I figured it would work but just wanted to check, am I right with the 4.7ohm 1/2 watt resistor??

As per the guide I linked above
Seat Belt Tensioner resistor needed is 4.7 ohm .5 watt
