    hi 99gti,

this is a great subject you have picked.as its such a volatile subject and most people cant just discuss it logically I will only post publically the different names of chips.my suggestion to you is visit their websites and research yourself. Its also best to take a test drive in a chipped car that matches your model.take all printed gains with a grain of salt.

http://www.mtm-online.de/en/ (which is what I have)

and obviously there is going standalone and getting it programmed.
    good luck with your search!!

please keep this discussion mature guys.

Do a search on here mate, there is a lot of info, but it does inflame some people. Every product has different merits and the effectiveness will depend on the other mods you have done to your car. Remember chip tuning on its own is the least effective way of tuning a car. Do everythiing else and then chip it or custom program it for the best effect.

Good luck with whatever one you settle upon.

I got my 02 GTI flashed (by REVO software) not chip replaced. Did this at VW Village, an authorised dealer for www.revotechnik.com.au (there's also one in Melboure). The dyno results showed about 20% improvement and it put me back a little over $1300 with GST.

I did learn that both pre and post dyno figures were distored by my faulty diverter valve at the time, so I am looking to do another dyno one day. (my stock ATW was 70Kw, instead of around 80 or more)

I also bought the SPS controller which allows me to turn the software on/off (not many options for the 1.8T NDBW GTI engine).

I haven't bothered using the SPS controller since except the other day when I accidentally put in 95 premium instead of 98 vortex, I turned the flash off. Not that I needed to, it was just my own reasoning.
