The only Dyno I've seen of a Polo with a K04 pulled a 177.5 HP, which is about 132kw... Thats a long way shy of 159...
I'm not saying you cant, I'm not saying I'm right, I'm just making you aware of what the 1.8T with a K04 has done. With all the right mods to accompany it and a more aggressive tune, I'm sure bigger numbers are achievable...
Saying that about agressive tunes, I dont think APR is agressive enough, no matter if it is K03 or K04 software
If I was to go a K04 I would probably look at a different tune like GIAC
Its a guestimate based on Polo numbers. People have used this for the Polo, but I have no idea how accurate it is, so it could certainly be pesemistic.

Agreed. Giac or Custom Code to get the most power.
Tazzy, those figures again look like at the fly, if they don't specify At The Wheels, they are likely not...
There is a statement next to one of the Dyno's saying a gain of '+16 hp and +22 lb-ft' was experienced and is normal. Thats not much gain for the money IMO. Then again, its does hold the power much higher into the rev range, where the Ko3 dies off when tuned to come on at full boost at 2500rpm.
Come on OP'er, get involved before we turn your thread into another stupid debate
can anyone tell me whats the diff between stage1 and stage 2 then? i have most mods that fuzion listed (minus bigger brakes, n75 and fpr) and would like a little more oomph..
is the n75j the one to go for? i've read abit where the n75 valve hasnt made a diff??
**sorry to hijack**
Platinum Grey mkV Jetta turbo, Viezu motorsport map, GT-CX 18", lowering to come
Yeah mate I know they are at the fly, but they are still legit measurments. Unless I've said ATW before then I've always meant at the fly Would be awesome to get that at the wheels on a K04!! All I'd hope for is 150ish ATW and 300+nm ATW. I wouldn't expecting to get a rocket ship but it shouldn't be written off as a mod, going gt28 is in a whole different league than K03s/K04 turbos and both have their places. A good point on the K04 is it makes more power/torque than the gt28 up until 3500 or so, but then you wave goodbye as the gt28 takes off ...apple and oranges
The MK4 starts off with a K03 and not a K03s like the Polo.
The problem as I see it is all about the budget. The software is pretty much the same money regardless of the route taken. The law of diminishing returns comes into play. As you spend the extra cash you get less for your money.
I'd definitely have a downpipe, turbo inlet pipe and dv on my shopping list if I were you. A set of S3 brakes are must have too IMO. After that you could go with plain software and have a great daily driver.
To go further, will ramp up the expense. I'd look at a front mount intercooler, exhaust manifold to go with a change of turbo. For me going past a KKK isn't the way. So I'd look for a good K03s or K04 and hardware as appropriate. S3 kit if you go with the K04.
Start off with want you want to end up with and then work backwards to the start point. Avoid changing the plan, especially after you have paid for software that you want/need to change, which will cost you again.
guys you just made a crap day at work all better! cheers
all good info and with that my thanks. i'm a little closer to an idea now and it looks like im gonna stay with the k03 and do the exhaust, intake and suspension. oh and a tune too!
i'll start a thread when i get her in my hands which is tomorrow (cant frakin wait!!!!) and we'll see how it all goes.
Glad we could help. Stock turbo has plenty of power, its all about helping unleash it without spending big money to do little things that make little difference.
