  • APR or AFE?

Hey guys, just about to get some stuff from ECS and i've come to my intake, and i'm not sure which way to go. Looking at the APR Carbonio or the AFE Pro 5 R Stage 1 Intake System. The AFE i guess has the advantage of a Shield to keep it slightly more legal. Was wondering on which way to go?

    Cheers guys

Also with my exhaust i was looking at getting the APR 2.5" DP, but there's one from billy boat for a considerably cheaper price. i'm looking at getting a specific noise from my car using a magnaflow cat back at a later time, basically would the APR make a significant noise difference over the BBoat DP? any light on this will help

    Cheers again

have the carbonio, and it looks nice. there is definitely an induction roar on throttle. you can also hear the butterfly snaps when parking.
the previous owner swore by his choice, and indicated that the response and throttle eagerness was had with the carbonio. specs are in my sig.

don't know a bout the other item.

I believe the APR exhaust, is simply the billy boat exhaust rebranded.
I'll be buying that one myself (obviously the billy boat one, no point paying extra money for nothing)
Even check out the pics and the description. Both say "you will not find a higher quality system on the market"
Surely that would be a contradiction if they were different exhaust systems!
(but that's not what i'm basing this statement on, i've read and been told the same thing)
        anyone confirm this?

Following previous discussions, I have been told that APR exhausts are made by Billyboat then badged.

I had an APR 2.5" DP with stock exhaust and there was no difference in level of noise, the standard mufflers do a very good job in that respect. I've now got a full APR 2.5" Turboback and it sounds excellent, no drone, not to loud. Be careful with the downpipes from america, the 3" APR definately wont fit, I don't know about the 2.5" one. Make sure it's the same product number as on the APR aus site!

The MkIV R32 APR exhaust is Billy Boat. I'm not sure about all the other ones though. I've not seen that mentioned for any other model other than the R. Could be wrong though.
