  • Weird right rear door lock issue

Need some opinion what may be wrong with my right rear door lock.

Here are the different scenarios i have tried and their results:-

    1. Using key remote to lock all doors - works
    2. Use driver door panel lock switch - all other door locks except right rear door (could hear mechanism working though)
    3. Use vagcom to turn on autolock feature - same as scenario 2, could hear mechanism trying to lock the door if speed is above 15km/hr, it kept going every few mins
    4. When in scenario 2, I manage to push down door lock pin and it stays down (locked - could not open the door from outside)

What do you think is the problem?

    Hi mate,
sounds like your lock module is on the way out, there's lots of info on them on this site and other VW blogs. Its probably the micro switches have a look here MKIV door locks explained - why you're having problems!!!

I started a thread to find out how to obtain a module, if you need to get it replaced at a shop its a bit of a costly job as they need to strip the door right down. http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/f14/...les-44641.html

Cheers mate! Good read. Will try to strip the door and check the soldering on the lock mechanism. If that doesn't work, I will live with it (unless replacement parts are cheap) as mine will still lock when i use the remote. I did find cheap 2nd hand wrecked parts from e-bay UK for around $60.
