lol first time I'm gonna be doing a major service on any euro car. should be fun when all the bits get here. hopefully it doesn't end up spending as much time on the hoist as the skyline.
also, gonna be a marathon effort to have it all finished before DOVW. All depends on shipping time now I guess.
I'd say you've got till the start of next week. I doubt we'll crack the $0.98 mark.Originally posted by RolfGolf View PostThat's a hell of an order - good time to place it with the AUS $ where it is at the moment too! I'm looking at grabbing an ECS Front Suspension Refresh stage 2 kit while the dollar is good.Last edited by funkymonkey; 29-09-2010, 12:35 AM.Golf MK4 Daily, Nissan Skyline R32 Weekender, Nissan Cefiro A31 Family, Nissan 200SX S14 Racecar

sweet. It just dawned on me while I was looking into suspension that the car is almost 10 years old, so the rubbers must be worn as hell by now, and nothing in the log books indicate that they were ever maintained by the previous owner.Originally posted by dylan8 View PostThe rear spring mounts i found were good. car felt a little softer while more 'together' if you like.Golf MK4 Daily, Nissan Skyline R32 Weekender, Nissan Cefiro A31 Family, Nissan 200SX S14 Racecar

In fact, the stage 3 kit misses out on something important - the TT/R32 lower control arm rear bushes!Originally posted by RolfGolf View PostThat's a hell of an order - good time to place it with the AUS $ where it is at the moment too! Financial analysts are saying we'll be at about 97c for the rest of this year, but likely to crack parity by mid-next year - maybe as high as $1.05.Originally posted by funkymonkey View PostI'd say you've got till the start of next week. I doubt we'll crack the $0.98 mark.
Regardless - with the exchange rate as good as it is, you'd be crazy to wait in the hope that it got better. Jump in!

The difference between the two was $40, and for that price I don't mind a full LCA replacement. Less time I have to spend on the press pushing bushes in. I'd assume replacement LCA's come with necessary bushings? no?Originally posted by Manaz View PostUnless you specifically need the lower control arms (that's where the stage 3 kit differs mostly from the stage 2 kit), I'd stick with stage 2. Speaking of bushings and presses and such, gtveloce on fourtitude forums made a nice bushing press tool in this thread: (about 2/3 the way down)
Fourtitude.com - How to: DIY rear axle bushing replacement, MKIV
Anyone here have the chops to machine something like this? Might tempt me to have a go at the rears once I've got my fronts sorted

The LCAs come with the stock bushings (the ones that break easily).Originally posted by funkymonkey View PostThe difference between the two was $40, and for that price I don't mind a full LCA replacement. balls. i might try and see if whiteline or someone we have a trade account with carry aftermarket bushings and press them in.Originally posted by Manaz View PostThe LCAs come with the stock bushings (the ones that break easily).
I just use a hydraulic press at the workshop with a few socket pieces or offcuts of some sort to press in bushings. I'll have a look when they come in. I'm used to doing nissan ones without any special tools or machined bits.Originally posted by RolfGolf View PostSpeaking of bushings and presses and such, gtveloce on fourtitude forums made a nice bushing press tool in this thread: (about 2/3 the way down)

Parts arrived in Oz and cleared customs. $500 later
$60 in customs fees. wtf.
Ah well. Still works out much cheaper than getting the same stuff locally.Golf MK4 Daily, Nissan Skyline R32 Weekender, Nissan Cefiro A31 Family, Nissan 200SX S14 Racecar
