  • R32 central locking question

So I just bought an R32 and my doors lock as soon as I start driving. I have tried searching but basically my question is does it need to be hooked up to VAGCOM to make adjustments to things like this or are there other ways to program central locking settings?

Thanks for any help you might be able to offer!

The setting you are looking for is in the display settings of the MFD. I am in an isolated part of Oz at the moment, otherwise I would quote the page number etc that the feature is described in the manual. grab a coffee etc and sit down and read the manual. Well worth it.

My wife finds the "auto-lock" a great feature. She feels much more secure when stationary at lights etc. There have been a number of 'car jacking" incidents lately, and this is a great feature.

just realised that this is in the MKIV section.

Is it a MKIV you have purchased?....Because what I have described is from my experience with our MKV. Sorry

Yep, it's a MKIV. I'm assuming the MKV is different...

Yes you need VAG-COM or a V-Checker or similar to do it. The only options you have are auto-lock on or off. As far as I'm aware you can't change the speed or time it takes to lock. You can also set it to beep when you unlock or lock the car. Any VW dealer mechanic or independent workshop can do it for you and should charge you very little to do it (or even free). It only takes 5-10 minutes if that.
                Cheers,

Thanks Trent. I'll be getting it done this week with the service. Really don't like the auto lock...

I have done that on my car. You can make indicators flash, the alarm beep, code keys, turn off AWD, get windows to go up and down from holding the button on the key, play with the dashboard....
VChecker is THE best thing you can get for your car but it can be a bit dangerous if you dont know what you are doing.
