Nice, HPA I guess? Is that 425hp kit? Any upgrades to engine hardware itself?
Do you have to pull W/IC out to service air filter and brake fluid?

There seem to be many small differences between USA and Australian R32, maybe here we got Euro model???
My MK V engine hardware is slightly different to images I seen of the MK V in USA.
We also have brake booster on the other side of engine bay, nice and close to exhaust pipe. Yours is on the left?

                yeah, the note always changes.

still impressive though. and to be honest where else can you get POWER from NA!?

The most well known ones on vortex are the HPA kitted .:R's though.
I believe it's around 10k for the kit.

                  that looks gooood!

where do they come up with the power figure though? on what basis or setup do they quote that figure?

+1. Would like to know what setups they're using to get that power! Over 800bhp turbo'd? O..k.

They also claim up to 700hp on the big valve 1.8T head!

They probably just mean that the head has the potential to flow 800hp.

                          quote:
*This level of flow means this engine is capable of over 400BHP in normally aspirated form*
*Turbo applications are popular on this head and we would expect over 800 bhp if this head were used with a turbo modification.*

Potential to run 800bhp, possibly. But claiming 2 seperate figures (capable of 400bhp N/A and 800bhp Turbo, so lets say the heads have been 'engineered' to withstand even 900-1000hp, which to me is general rule in just about any industry, allow yourself quite a large margin and over engineer), I would like to know what other modifications to an N/A engine would in fact make it 'capable' of reaching 400bhp, and also in the Turbo application, what figures/configurations (which are apparently popular) have they have worked with to get these 'expectations' of 800bhp.

/not having a dig, just curious. Seems like very substantial power gains for heads.

It would be based on flow figures and also very deep pockets. I would guess that a lot of forged and titanium parts would be required as well. Plus then all your auxiliary stuff and driveline etc etc. Would be mad though.
                            Cheers,

When they say the heads can flow 400hp, they're not saying the engine will cope - just that the heads can provide the airflow for 400hp if you can meet the rest of the requirements.
                              Nothing to see here...

yeah its just a theoretical level based on a whole lot of factors, like 100% volumetric efficiency, and usually at huge cam lifts.
