  • Is a Mk4 Bora front end interchangeable with a Golf?

What I mean by this, is will Golf guards, bonnet , headlights and bumper bolt onto a Bora?

Don't mean to ruffle any feathers and have no intention to do this myself (don't own a Bora)
but curious to know if it can be done or if it has been done already.

Both are great looking cars, I just prefer the Golf front end and would think it would be an interesting way to modify the Bora.

Is this just plain crazy, what do you think?

Have a look at JLT's ride thread. It's the opposite with a Bora front end on the golf, but looks tough as.

As indicated already, yes. The underpinnings are identical, just the panels (grill, headlights, bonnet and bumper) are different - I believe the windscreen and front quarter panels would be identical. Doors and sills are the same on a Bora and 5-door Golf too I believe.

If you put a Bora front on a Golf, you get a Bolf, like Mr JLT's car. Golf front on a Bora and you get a Gora.

graeme86 pointed out to me a while ago that there's a definite design symmetry with the Bora headlight and the Mk4 Golf/Bora windscreen shapes, which is why I think the Bora front looks so good on the Golf as well (in fact, I prefer the Bolf to the Gora).

          Agree.
The mk4 golf headlights seem really small in comparison to the bora.

I would only go Bora nose on a Golf... its a win-lose situation for the other option

After looking at a few Gora's, they don't look as good as I thought they would.
Don't like the ones where the bonnet covers the headlights and lack a VW badge in the grille.

The Bolf's on the other hand look amazing. This surprised me a lot and does give the car that bit more aggressive styling.
Seems to go much better than the other way around.

As I said to Manaz, and you can see very well in this photo....the outside curve of the Bora headlight perfectly matches the shape of the windscreen and A-pilllars on the Golf. Really integrates well.

In America, they also call them Jolfs and Gettas.

                      Sure does.
Wish I hadn't already bought my replacement Golf front end.

I don't know anyone that was thinking of doing the reverse. I started this thread as I was curious but if you know someone that wants to swap let me know.

Definately wont be able to use my Rieger body kit even if I was able to convince my wife.
