hey guys its time for a new set of pads for my bora as as sum of u know that means new rotors does any1 know where i can get good pads and rotors so i can put them on myself rather than paying over a $1000 for a mechanic to do it?
any comments r appreciated
cheers
I found it was cheaper to get brake parts in from the US than it was to source them locally. Check out ECS Tuning - they have brake pad/rotors selections to suit the Bora V6 4Motion even though they don't explicitely list it (since they didn't get it in the US).
What you want to look for is parts to suit the Audi TT Mk1 Quattro 225HP:
I got my replacement gear from German Auto Parts when I was due for replacement. Two front rotors shipped over here and then slotted locally was about the same price as the price of one rotor from VW Australia. Also have a look at ECS, Parts4VW and maybe TMTuning as well.
How come you need to replace rotors when you pads?
Cheers,
Trent
look up Greg at GSL Rallysport, site sponsor he can supply you with Premium pads any spec and slotted rotors. I use him for most of my brakes and upgrades.

Problem is they never got the 4motion bora/jetta which has the 312mm brakes. It is the same brakes as an mk1 Audi TTQ tho which is what manaz was pointing to.
Dont forget to check out GAP as they are pretty reasonable too.

80% of Jetta parts are right, just that they never got the 4mo model, its only FWD over there.. Think of it like a grown up Mk3 VR6, hence they only had 288mm rotors IIRC

the rotors all have a bit of a lip on them and its to much to b machined and i dunno if if its true or not but a bloke from abs and my mechanic both said that some euro cars like audi, mercedes and vw have softer pads and rotors and this is y they brake better and also release alot of a brake dust which is what i was getting and not so much now the brakes r getting low. this softer compound makes both pads and rotors life span much shorter but supposbaly its much better brakeing. ne1 else think this might b a bit of a yarn?
I understand that these are an OK alternative for street use. I opted for DBA 4000 series plain rotors (was looking for slotted units orginally only to find out DBA had ceased production for the Bora)

It's no yarn - the rotors are softer compared to a lot of other cars, hence they wear quicker but as you've been told, braking is better.

Pads should be easy to source - if memory serves, same size/dimensions as for one of the Holden Vectras. The only issue would be for the wear sensor connections. I only bridged these out as I made a habit of keeping an eye on pad wear. The old Bendix Metal Kings worked a treat for me on the 4Motion.
Cheers.
Yep, and in the battle between RDA and DBA single piece rotors they're our preferred option in terms of quality and performance. Neither DBA or RDA would be an issue on the street, but on the track DBA single piece rotors have a serious cracking issue that the RDA don't seem to suffuer. Unless you're going to spend silly money on 2 piece rotors stick to RDA. We stock both, and have no bias to either, except that on the track we've never had a problem with RDA, and I personally run them in my 03 Impreza rally car.
and pads?
Nup, cheap and nasty. Look elsewhere. Remsa or QFM FTW.
